Juan Aponte 1959, abstract artist works and lives in Virginia. During his childhood, he was introduced to the world of art by his uncle, who used a butter spatula to paint in oils, where color and matter were paramount. There, their love for the spirit of materials was born, something that would mark them forever, later expressing that it was their true school.
Later, Juan enrolled in the School of Fine Arts, where he received a traditional education. He graduated with honors and was invited to stay on as a professor of painting and composition, a role he held for ten years.
In 2003, he moved to the United States to explore the work of the American abstract expressionists, whom he had long admired. Over time, he gradually transitioned from figurative art to gesturally abstract painting, which he considers his true calling.
