At the end of the Long Island Expressway is a small town stock car track called “Riverhead Raceway’. I was first introduced to it by a DJ by the name of “Wild Girl”, describing “Enduro’s” on an alternative radio station WFMU. I set out to see what she had described as a “Truly Wild” scene.
I was not disappointed.
About the artist
“I’m in my early sixties and grew up on the Bowery, back when it was in a state of glorious decay, rife with hookers, winos, dope fiends and flop houses. I have spent the last three decades documenting sub-cultures as diverse as snake handlers in West Virginia to Furries at their conventions.
These experiences and others have informed my visual vocabulary to execute thought-provoking and compelling work in both paint and video.
I am not an art world insider; like the sub-cultures I explore, I have remained on the margins. I have had a number of shows in New York, and Toronto and various art fairs throughout Europe”

A Proof of Provenance is an official document that establishes the genuine nature of an artwork. Issued by a credible authority, this may be signed directly by the creator, the gallery representing the creator, or the specialist who collaborated with the artist. In cases of traded artworks, authenticated bodies or designated foundations may issue such certifications.
These documents are comprehensive, usually detailing the artist’s name, specifics of the artwork (including title, creation date, materials used, size), and ideally, an image of the art piece itself.
