About the artist

De la Mer, the prominent artist, was born in Los Angeles, California and spent a significant portion of their adult life in San Francisco before returning to the greater Los Angeles area. They pursued a Master of Fine Art degree at both Newcastle University in the UK and the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Currently, de la Mer is a doctoral student in the East-West Psychology program at CIIS, where they integrate the subtle, unconscious, and transpersonal aspects of human experience with artistic practice.

The work of de la Mer invites contemplation and promotes deeper examination. Notably, the artist has been recognized for pioneering new techniques in brush strokes and mark-making, resulting in highly textured artwork despite its flatness. Upon closer inspection, the viewer may notice the subtle aroma of spike oil of lavender, which replaces traditional turpentine in the creation of the artwork.

Proof of Provenance

A Proof of Provenance is an official document that establishes the genuine nature of an artwork. Issued by a credible authority, this may be signed directly by the creator, the gallery representing the creator, or the specialist who collaborated with the artist. In cases of traded artworks, authenticated bodies or designated foundations may issue such certifications.

These documents are comprehensive, usually detailing the artist’s name, specifics of the artwork (including title, creation date, materials used, size), and ideally, an image of the art piece itself.
