Acrylic paint, wax pastel, ink, collage, on wood panel, framed
$ 1,500
My work frequently features abstracted depictions of vessels or rugs or flowers. In this piece a sort of sculpture is included which was inspired by a garden feature we pass on our daily walk in our neighborhood.
Paint is applied using rags. Many of the marks and elements are made with wax pastel or ink often via restrict methods. Sgraffito technique is used to add fine details and texture.
About the artist
“I am an accidental immigrant from New Zealand, currently living in Portland, Oregon. Since 2021, I have been fully devoted to my fine art, having previously worked part-time as an illustrator. Although I don’t have a degree in arts, I am a self-taught artist who has always found joy in creating art. It brings me immense satisfaction to see others enjoy my creations.
As an immigrant, I often find myself in a permanent observer state of limbo. I think my art reflects that. It is a combination of large bold shapes and tiny scribbly lines, blocks of dominant color and specks of contrast, clean edges, and smudged overlays. Although certain elements seem positive, others are merely educated guesses, creating a level of tension and perhaps confusion. My work shows things as they seem to be, not as I know them to be. But this seems to make the work more interesting and accessible because people relate to the uncertainty.”

A Proof of Provenance is an official document that establishes the genuine nature of an artwork. Issued by a credible authority, this may be signed directly by the creator, the gallery representing the creator, or the specialist who collaborated with the artist. In cases of traded artworks, authenticated bodies or designated foundations may issue such certifications.
These documents are comprehensive, usually detailing the artist’s name, specifics of the artwork (including title, creation date, materials used, size), and ideally, an image of the art piece itself.
