Tabriz, the artist’s birthplace, is a historical town on the Silk Road—a place of cultural exchange since antiquity, and its historic bazaar complex, which is depicted here, was one of the commercial hops on the Silk Road. Bahadori borrows a scene from Eskandar-Nâmeh (The Romance of Alexander the Great) by the great sage poet of the east Nizami of Ganja when Alexander arrives in Barda.
