Identity verification is a standard step for every artist accepted to ArtRewards. This page explains why it is required, when it takes place, what it involves, and what happens if it is not completed. Taking a few minutes to understand the process will help you move smoothly from approval to listing your first works.
Why Verification Is Required
ArtRewards is a curated marketplace where collectors acquire original work with confidence. Identity verification is central to that trust.
The process serves two purposes:
- Buyer protection. Collectors need assurance that the artist behind each work is genuine and that every piece they purchase is authentic. Verification confirms that each artist represented on the platform is who they say they are.
- Marketplace integrity. A verified community of artists safeguards the reputation of the platform and the quality of the collection as a whole. It protects you as a seller, your fellow artists, and the collectors who shop within the marketplace.
When Verification Takes Place
Verification takes place after your application is approved and before you list any work.
Once the curatorial team welcomes you to the platform and activates your dashboard, verification becomes the final step before your first upload. You will be guided through it as part of setting up your profile, so there is no need to prepare anything in advance of approval.
What the Process Involves
Verification is designed to be straightforward. In general, it asks you to confirm your identity through a short, secure process directly within your account.
You can typically expect to:
- Provide a valid form of identification, such as a government-issued document, to confirm your name and identity.
- Confirm your contact and payout details, so that communications and payments reach the correct person.
- Follow the prompts within your dashboard, which walk you through each step in sequence.
All information you submit is handled securely and in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the GDPR. Your details are used solely to confirm your identity and support your account.
What Happens If Verification Is Not Completed
Verification is a prerequisite for listing work. Until it is complete, your dashboard remains active, but you will not be able to upload or publish artworks for sale.
Completing the process promptly ensures there is no delay between your approval and the moment your work becomes available to collectors. If you encounter any difficulty along the way, our support team is available to assist.
A Standard Requirement for All Artists
Every artist accepted to ArtRewards completes identity verification, without exception. It is a routine, one-time step that applies equally across the platform and forms part of the shared standard that keeps the marketplace trustworthy for artists and collectors alike.
